Therapeutic Approach
For more than twenty years in Victoria, Traci has provided counselling and therapy services for diverse populations on a range of issues. Her experience includes counselling and advocacy for students in the school setting, inpatient psychiatry, clinician work on a multidisciplinary mental health team, and private practice. She has experience with all mental health issues in a variety of contexts. The issues that clients typically address with Traci include depression and anxiety, communications and parenting challenges, trauma and abuse, family of origin issues, addictions (including substance and money), stage of life difficulties, gender and power dynamics in relationships, sex issues, sexual orientation, and relationship / growth challenges.
Traci aims to help youth and adults of all ages and stages resolve their issues and achieve their goals. That often involves counseling that builds capacity for stronger connections and intimacy with others.
Post Partum Support Program
Traci is the primary counsellor for the Post Partum Support Program in the Greater Victoria area. As such, many of her clients are new mothers (and their partners) who are experiencing post partum anxiety or depression. Traci also helps families cope with a wide range of other issues that can be triggered by the arrival of a new baby into an existing family system.
Typically, mothers access therapy services under the Post Partum Support Program by a referral from a public health nurse, physician, midwife, social worker or an agency in the community. The Post Partum Support Program is sponsored by the Queen Alexandra Centre for Children’s Health with funding by the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA).
