Traci McGee is an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with accreditation by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

Victoria Experience as Therapist & Supervisor

Traci has more than three decades of experience and connections in the Greater Victoria healthcare and mental healthcare communities.

She is a systems-oriented, couples and family counsellor with a multi-faceted therapy practice that is well established and respected across the Greater Victoria mental health community.

Since 2006, Traci has been lead clinician for the program that delivers funded counselling for parents in the Greater Victoria area when struggling with mental health issues in their postpartum period.  In 2020, she was invited to redesign, grow, and relaunch the program as the CRD Perinatal Counselling Program.  This was possible with thanks to the generous funding of a private donor in our community, and to the support of the South Island Primary Care Society.  Since then, Traci expanded her clinical team to between four and five perinatal counsellors.

She is a co-leaseholder helping to run the Centre for Counselling and Therapy (at 111-645 Fort Street) and its four-office space that is  used by seven private practice clinicians

Also, Traci volunteers as a clinical supervisor with the Vancouver Island Counselling Centre for Immigrants and Refugees (VICCIR), work she views as important and inspiring. This is a nonprofit that was founded by one of Traci's mentors and former colleagues.

Her practice, the McGee Therapy Clinic, is incorporated as McGee Therapy & Consulting Inc.  She runs the practice with the contributions of her clinic team: Dayna (client support manager), Michael (clinic support manager and Traci's husband) and Jamie (student intern counsellor).  The practice has remained busy since she began as a solo therapist in 2006–working out of her Saanich home office until 2023, and downtown ever since.

Before private practice, Traic was a clinician on the multidisciplinary Victoria Child & Youth Mental Health team (BC government) for twelve years.  Earlier on, she provided counselling for youth in the local high school system, and she worked at Ledger House on a psychiatric ward for children.  She feels fortunate to have been exposed so early in her career to psychiatric work, other clinical disciplines, and also to pharmacology.  It allowed her to deepen her undertstanding of mental health and relationship issues.

Although her current work focus remains clinical counselling and therapy, a shift towards clinical supervision and consultation is well underway.  She deeply enjoys working with other clinicians as the lead for the perinatal program’s clinical team, as a clinical supervisor at VICCIR, and as a supervisor for graduate student interns.

See Traci's credentials page to learn more about her education, training and experience as an approved clinical counsellor in Victoria, and as registered counsellor and therapist with strong roots in our community.

Supervision & Consultation Services

Traci is available to provide independent, one-to-one clinical supervision and consultation for  counsellors and therapists in the Victoria area.  This is a service for clinicians in an established practice or who are working to attain profesional accreditation.

Student Internships

Traci is open to requests to join her practice for an onsite internship starting as early as Spring 2025.  Traci has supervised graduate students in MA and MSW counselling programs over a period of 15 years.

To be considered, students will have work or life experience for working with private pay clients and parents in their perinatal period.

Traci is interested in supervising students in Victoria who seek to further develop their craft, deepen their self-understanding, and gain more confidence in their counselling work and the modalities they have chosen.

She is also interested in working with students who are comfortable sharing examples of their counselling work directly, either by video or by use of the one-way observation mirror in her downtown office space.  This allows the student's work to be seen more fully, and it enriches the learning that happens in supervision sessions.

Supervisory Orientation

Traci is a systems counsellor working with evidence-based modalities that include EFT for couples, CBT and EMDR.  As the supervisor, Traci commits to providing a safe and brave space where she and supervisees can be authentic and raw, and where supervisees can explore and grow both personally and professionally.

She sees the work as relational and collaborative with ongoing reflections on who each person is.  For the supervisee, it is an opportunity to understand themselves more deeply, integrate that understanding with theory, and practice bringing knowledge of one’s self to their counselling work with impact that helps clients reach their goals.
